I had
some lightbulb moments this week during the readings. My personality likes to
have things planned out and organized if I'm taking on a project or in charge
of something. When thinking specifically about starting a business I get tied
up in the details of how much to charge, how I’ll schedule jobs, how much time
each project will take and all sorts of things that I can’t possibly fine tune
until I’m actually doing them. There was
so much information this week on just starting. Simply begin and figure out the
problems as they come at you. Some of the information indicated that there was
actually less of a chance for success the more delays happened. Jumping in and
sorting things out when they arise shows that you have confidence and
excitement for what you're doing. If you show hesitancy and restraint in your
business idea then customers, and most certainly investors, can become wary of
your product or service. It's important to have plans and projections and not
always be shooting from the hip, but if something unexpected comes up, can you
handle it? What if an opportunity comes knocking that you don’t think you’re
quite ready for? Do you turn it down because you can’t wrap your head around
it? No way! Lean into the uncomfortable of not having every detail mapped out
and you may be surprised at the potential you never knew was there. Actually doing the job is usually what helps you figure
it out anyway.
